# How to add a trending sound to TikTok videos or carousels


# Can I add a sound to TikTok videos/carousels?

Unfortunately, due to API limitations from TikTok, it's **NOT** possible to select a sound when [posting directly](/en/article/how-to-directly-post-tiktok-videos-1vpkmcs/) through a 3rd party app, like Publer. 

In such cases, we recommend that you add a sound to the video or [carousel](https://help.publer.io/en/article/how-to-create-a-carouselmulti-photo-post-for-tiktok-13ejtle/) beforehand. After you have added the sound, you can upload the video/photos to Publer, make any last minute changes, and then publish it directly through Publer. 

However, if you want to add a TikTok sound, then you will have to rely on the [semi-automated and push-notifications](https://help.publer.io/en/article/how-to-post-tiktok-videos-via-push-notifications-bba9cl/) solution mentioned below.

However, for carousels you can toggle on "Add recommended sound from TikTok" option, which lets TikTok automatically assign a track to your post, which you can later change within TikTok if needed.

# Workaround:

To work around this, you have a few options:

1. **Add the sound before uploading (Videos only)**

* Use a video editor to add your desired sound to videos **before** uploading the content to Publer.
* Once the sound is embedded, you can make final adjustments and schedule your post in Publer.

2. **Use the "Add Recommended Sound from TikTok" option (Carousels only)**

* If you're posting a **carousel (multi-photo post)** directly, you can enable the **"Add recommended sound from TikTok"** option.
* Create the post and toggle on "Add recommended sound from TikTok":

* TikTok will automatically assign a track to your post, which you can later change within the app.

3. **Use the Push-Notification method (recommended for TikTok videos)**

You can also choose to [get a reminder/push-notification](https://help.publer.io/en/article/how-to-post-tiktok-videos-via-push-notifications-bba9cl/) on your phone on the scheduled time.

1. Go to Publer, select your TikTok account, and upload your video/photos.
2. Choose **Get a reminder** option and schedule the video/carousel.
3. You will get a notification once the post is ready, and then you can proceed with adding a sound.
4. Make the last changes, and post it to TikTok.

This semi-automated solution would let you finish posting the video using TikTok's editor, where you can add various elements to the video/carousel, including a sound.
