# How to create a Facebook Status Update with a background

# To create a Facebook Status Update with a background:

* Open the Create button.
* Select the **Facebook Page** of your choice.
* Click on the small **background** icon.

* Choose a background from the available options.

* Start writing your status update on the caption. It will be reflected in real time on the **Post Preview**.

|| There is no [character limit](https://publer.com/help/en/article/what-is-the-character-limit-for-all-social-networks-1a3utwz/) when creating status updates with backgrounds via Publer. When posting directly on Facebook, the limit is 130 characters.

* You can also choose to add hashtags, mentions, location, auto-share, or auto-delete the post.

* Schedule the post accordingly.

### Keep in mind:

* You cannot add both media and a background.
* You can only create status updates with a background for Facebook Pages.
* If you add a link, it will appear as plain text without a link preview.
* When editing a published post, you can change the background but not remove it.
* When [syncing posts](https://publer.com/help/en/article/how-to-synchronize-all-posts-within-publer-x673pq/), we cannot retrieve published posts with a background from Facebook. They will appear as regular status updates.
* There is no [character limit](https://publer.com/help/en/article/what-is-the-character-limit-for-all-social-networks-1a3utwz/) when creating status updates with backgrounds via Publer. However, when posting directly on Facebook, the limit is 130 characters.

* Select the **Facebook Page** of your choice.
* Click on **Background.**

* Click on **Save** to add the background to the post.
