Most raises at work are pretty darn small. Even if you create a ton of value. Seems a bit unfair, no? But that's just how business works. That doesn't mean jobs are bad. Jobs can be wonderful. Happy entrepreneurs make a lot of money and have a lot of free time. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Yes, of course it's hard. Anything worth doing is. You need to have an incredibly smart plan on how to earn income without trading time for money. Here are a few tips that might be helpful: 1. Signal vs. noise: Pay attention to the content that people engage with. Ratio of engagements to impressions. That's where your lane is. 2. Experiment cheaply: Don't spend 6 months building some product nobody buys. Push a fast v1 out there ASAP and start getting feedback. Do this multiple times. 3. Build compounding assets: Connect every product you build to another product or service. Customers should graduate from one to the other and have success. 4. Time optimization: Figure out the 20% of things you do that actively move the needle. Eliminate, simplify, automate, or delegate everything else.
