How to create and use Hashtag Groups

DesktopStart

Hashtag Groups let you save sets of hashtags and reuse them when creating posts in Publer.

Instead of copying hashtags from old posts, notes, or documents, you can save them once and add them to your post whenever you need them. You can organize Hashtag Groups by niche, campaign, client, platform, or content type.

For example:

  • Travel Reels
  • Product Launch
  • Instagram Hashtags
  • TikTok Hashtags
  • Client A
  • Holiday Campaign

This helps you keep your hashtags organized, save time, and use the right hashtags more easily when creating content.

To create a Hashtag Group:

  • Go to the post composer and click the Hashtags icon.

  • On the dropdown click on Saved.

  • A panel will open on the left side of the screen, where you can search specifically for shortcodes that contain Hashtag Groups.
  • Choose With Hashtags.

  • Select the option to create a new Hashtag Group by clicking on New shortcode.

  • Choose the social account you want to create the Hashtag Group for.
  • Add a clear name for the group, so you can easily recognize it later. Add the hashtags you want to save.
  • Click on Create.

Your Hashtag Group will now be available whenever you create a new post for that social account.

To use a Hashtag Group in a post:

  • Open the composer and start creating your post.
  • Click the Hashtags icon and choose Saved from the dropdown menu.

  • In the text composer, type {{ to open the shortcode menu and a dropdown with your available shortcodes will appear.

  • Alternatively, you can click one of the shortcodes in the panel on the left side, and all hashtags from that group will be added automatically to the caption.

  • Browse the list or search for the Hashtag Group you want to use.

  • Select the Hashtag Group of your choice.
  • The saved hashtags will be added to your post automatically. You can preview them in the Live Preview.

You can still edit, remove, or add more hashtags before scheduling or publishing the post. Learn more about shortcodes here.

Keep in mind:

  • Hashtag Groups are account specific. You can create up to 100 Shortcodes or Hashtag Groups per account.
  • If you want to use the same Hashtag Groups for other accounts, you can duplicate the settings.
  • Updating a Hashtag Group will not update posts where that group was already inserted. It only works for new posts.
  • Each social network has its own hashtag limits and best practices, so avoid using the exact same hashtag set everywhere.
