How to add follow-up comments to my posts

DesktopStart

In Publer, you can add follow-up comments to your posts to extend conversations and boost engagement. These comments can include hashtags, links, captions, emojis, or media, and can be scheduled to appear with a delay on all supported social accounts except Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook Personal Profiles, and Google Business Profiles.

You can also set a default follow-up comment through Post Presets for supported networks. In addition to scheduling delays, follow-up comments can be configured with advanced conditions, such as triggering based on reach or engagements.

To add a follow-up comment:

  • Go to Create.

  • Select the desired social accounts.
  • Click on +Add Comment/Thread below the composer.

Note: If you want to add follow-up comments to all the selected accounts, you have to specify it one by one or Apply to all.

Note: To add follow-up comments to a recurring post, you need to set them up while scheduling. This way, each occurrence will automatically include the follow-up comment or any other post callbacks. Otherwise, you will have to update each occurrence manually.

  • Each comment can have anything from text, to links, to hashtags, to media.
  • After that, you can set conditions for when the follow-up comment will be posted. You can do this by clicking on the 3 dots on the right-side of the post and choosing Add Conditions.

  • Conditions can be based on Time (Is older than, previously 'Delay'), Reach, and Engagements.

  • You can configure follow-up comments to be added automatically based on time or performance. Conditions can be combined so that either all must be met or only one is required.

EXAMPLE: You can set a comment to be added only if the post is at least a certain time old AND/OR if it has more or fewer engagements or reach than the number you define.

  • Under Is older than, specify the time delay after which the follow-up comment will be posted.

  • You can also set conditions based on Engagements and/or Reach.

Example: A comment can be added automatically if the post’s reach or engagement is less than or more than a specific value by selecting < or > and entering the number.

  • To add an additional comment/thread, click the +Add Comment/Thread below the existing one.

You can also set conditions for additional follow-up comments. However, performance-based conditions apply only to the first comment.

  • Once you have finished creating the follow-up comments/threads and your comment section is ready, simply preview the follow-up comment under the post preview on the right and then you can proceed with scheduling the post accordingly.

NOTE: Threads and follow-up comments do NOT carry over automatically when reusing posts from saved drafts, scheduled content, or previously published posts. Therefore, you will need to manually add them each time.

To set a default follow-up comment for your posts :

  • Go to Social Accounts.
  • Select the social account where you want to apply post presets.
  • Navigate to the Post Presets tab, and locate the Default auto-comments setting.

  • Add your follow-up comment. Each comment can have anything from text, to links, to hashtags, to media.
  • After that, you can set conditions for when the follow-up comment will be posted.

Keep in mind:

  • You can also schedule follow-up comments for Facebook Groups, as long as you are posting as a Page to that Group.
  • Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook Personal Profiles, and Google Business Profiles don’t support follow-up comments due to API limitations.
