How to manage posts created for multiple social accounts

DesktopStart

When you create the same post for multiple social accounts in Publer, the posts are displayed together to make them easier to view and manage.

Each post still belongs to its specific social account and can have its own content, status, permissions, publishing time, settings, and available actions.

Each social account has its own post. Publer displays the posts together when they have the same publishing date and time, scheduling method, and status.

Viewing and managing posts

  • Posts created for multiple social accounts are displayed together in the Calendar, where you can view and manage them from the same place. When supported, you can also perform certain actions on all of them at once.

  • If you want to view or manage the post for only one of the social accounts instead, click Show each post.

  • This will display each post separately, so you can see its individual status and available actions.
  • From here, select the specific post you want to manage without applying the action to the posts for the other social accounts.

Depending on your permissions, you may only be able to edit, approve, decline, or manage posts for the social accounts you have access to.

  • The same applies when a post requires approval. The available approval actions will depend on your permissions for each social account.

  • You can also use Show each post when removing posts from Publer. This lets you manage a specific post individually instead of applying the action to all applicable posts. Learn more about removing posts from Publer.

Previewing posts

You can also preview how the post will appear on each social network.

  • When a post is created for multiple social accounts, use the social account icons at the top of the preview to switch between them and check how the post will look on each one.

This is especially useful when the content or post format appears differently across social networks.

The content does not need to be identical for the posts to be displayed together. You can customize supported content, such as captions, media, comments, and post options, for individual social networks.

When are posts displayed separately?

Even if posts were created together, they may be displayed separately when their publishing details or statuses are different.

For example:

  • You add a delay between the selected social accounts.
  • You customize the publishing date or time for one or more accounts.
  • The posts have different statuses.

If you customize the publishing time while editing or rescheduling, the affected posts will be displayed separately.

What happens when posts have different statuses?

Each post is processed independently for its respective social account.

  • A Published post and a post that is still Posting in progress can continue to be displayed together, as Publer treats these as the same status.
  • If one post receives a different status, such as Failed, it will be displayed separately.
  • If one post fails, it does not prevent the posts for the other social accounts from being published.

Different settings and social network limitations

Since each post belongs to a different social account, its available settings and actions can also vary depending on what that social network supports.

For example:

  • An action may be available for one social network but not another.
  • One social account may require reauthorization while the others remain connected.
  • Linkie may need to be reconnected for one social account without affecting the others.
  • Post type indicators, such as Story or Reel, are shown when viewing the individual post when applicable.
  • When using Recurring or Recycling posts, each social account follows its own recurring or recycling settings and supported posting options.
  • Publishing times can also be managed together or separately. When rescheduling posts, you can keep the same publishing time for all social accounts or customize it for each one.
  • To reschedule the posts, open the publishing time and select Reschedule.

  • If you want to use a different publishing time for each social account, select Customize time for each social account.

Once you customize the publishing time for individual social accounts, the affected posts will be displayed separately.

Keep in mind:

  • Each social account has its own post, even when the posts are displayed together.
  • Posts can be displayed together when they have the same publishing date and time, scheduling method, and status.
  • The content does not need to be identical for the posts to be displayed together.
  • Use Show each post when you want to view or manage a specific post individually.
  • Posts with different publishing times, delays, or statuses may be displayed separately.
  • Published and Posting in progress are treated as the same status and can continue to be displayed together.
  • Each post can have its own content, permissions, settings, and available actions.
  • An issue or action affecting one post does not necessarily affect the posts for the other social accounts.
