Can I add a sound to TikTok videos/carousels?

Unfortunately, due to API limitations from TikTok, it's NOT possible to select a sound when posting directly through a 3rd party app, like Publer.

In such cases, we recommend that you add a sound to the video or carousel beforehand. After you have added the sound, you can upload the video/photos to Publer, make any last minute changes, and then publish it directly through Publer.

However, if you want to add a TikTok sound, then you will have to rely on the semi-automated and push-notifications solution mentioned below.

Note: If you want to post TikTok videos or carousels directly, you cannot add a sound due to API limitations. However, for carousels you can toggle on "Add recommended sound from TikTok" option, which lets TikTok automatically assign a track to your post, which you can later change within TikTok if needed.

Workaround:

To work around this, you have a few options:

Add the sound before uploading (Videos only)

Use a video editor to add your desired sound to videos before uploading the content to Publer.
Once the sound is embedded, you can make final adjustments and schedule your post in Publer.

Use the "Add Recommended Sound from TikTok" option (Carousels only)

If you're posting a carousel (multi-photo post) directly, you can enable the "Add recommended sound from TikTok" option.
Create the post and toggle on "Add recommended sound from TikTok":



TikTok will automatically assign a track to your post, which you can later change within the app.

Use the Push-Notification method (recommended for TikTok videos)

You can also choose to get a reminder/push-notification on your phone on the scheduled time.

Go to Publer, select your TikTok account, and upload your video/photos.
Choose Get a reminder option and schedule the video/carousel.
You will get a notification once the post is ready, and then you can proceed with adding a sound.
Make the last changes, and post it to TikTok.
