How to design illustrations with the Canva integration/button

You can now create photos, videos, and GIFs directly within your Publer dashboard using the refreshed Canva integration. Design your content seamlessly and efficiently, all in one place.

To use the Canva integration from within Publer:

Go to the Create tab in your Publer dashboard.
Click Click or Drag and Drop media.
Select Canva.

Choose the media type you want to create.

Then, pick the aspect ratio for your design.

Note : You need to specify the media type and aspect ratio before being taken to Canva. Publer will automatically anticipate your intended design. For example, creating a vertical cover for an Instagram Reel.

After that, click Continue to open Canva.

Then, authorize Publer to access your Canva account.

Important : You must grant access for Publer to use this integration.

You can disconnect Canva at any time by going to Settings → Integrations → Canva in Publer. Keep in mind, both Canva integrations are grouped together, so they cannot be disconnected individually.

Start creating your design directly in Canva.

Once finished, click Return to Publer at the top-right corner.

After confirming by clicking Return to Publer, your changes will automatically sync and you will be redirected back to your Publer dashboard.
Finalize your post in Publer and schedule it as usual.

Note : You can also reuse your previous Canva uploads. Simply select one, make any final edits, and publish your design directly to Publer.

To use your previous Canva designs:

Go to Canva following the steps in the section above.
Click on Projects.

Select Your Projects to view your saved designs.

Choose the design you want to use and make any changes you need. Once finished, click Return to Publer, as also outlined in the section above.
Finalize your post in Publer and schedule it as usual.

Keep in mind:

You can now create and design photos, videos, and GIFs directly within Publer using the Canva integration.
The Canva editor opens in a popup window, which may behave differently from the previous experience.
You must grant access for Publer to use this integration. You can disconnect Canva at any time by going to Settings → Integrations → Canva in Publer. Keep in mind, both Canva integrations are grouped together, so they cannot be disconnected individually.
When creating designs using the Canva Button, your designs will only be saved in Publer’s Media Library after the post is scheduled. They will not be saved to your Canva account.
Not all features are supported with the Canva Button integration due to technical limitations on Canva’s side. For example, Brand Kit features, exporting multiple pages, and some advanced tools are not available. Learn more about these limitations here.
