How to tag/mention people or social accounts

This feature is available only for Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon.

For Facebook, you can only tag Pages.

For Twitter, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon, you can tag any accounts, including people. You can also tag the LinkedIn Personal Profiles that you have added in Publer or follow your LinkedIn Pages.

Facebook

Due to API limitations, you can only mention other Facebook Pages, not Personal Profiles.

Select at least one Facebook social account
Type @ followed by the name of the Facebook Page you want to tag (not the username).

Tagging Facebook Pages
You can also tag a Facebook page by entering their Page ID, which you can find under About -> Page Transparency on Facebook.

LinkedIn

You can now mention your LinkedIn connections, followers of your company pages, and other LinkedIn company pages using either their name or vanity name.

When tagging LinkedIn profiles, avoid placing a comma immediately after the name, as it will interrupt the mention search. LinkedIn will stop showing suggestions—including the profile you're trying to tag.
Example that won’t work: @Publer, – The comma ends the search and breaks the mention.

Mentioning LinkedIn Company Pages

Select at least one LinkedIn social account.
Type @, followed by the name of the LinkedIn Company Page you'd like to tag.

Similarly, you can tag the followers of your company page by following the same steps.

From the dropdown suggestions, choose the correct company page to apply the mention properly.
Alternatively, if you’re unable to find the company page you want to mention by its name, you can try searching for it using its vanity name—the unique username found in the page’s LinkedIn URL.

For example, in this link: https://www.linkedin.com/company/kalemicode/, the vanity name is kalemicode. Simply type @kalemicode to mention the page.

Always make sure to select the correct suggestion from the dropdown to ensure the mention is added properly.

Mentioning LinkedIn Personal Profiles

You can mention your LinkedIn connections or other personal profiles with certain restrictions.

Due to API limitations and restrictions, you can only mention other LinkedIn Personal Profiles that are part of your Publer workspace(s) or follow your LinkedIn Page(s). If the name of the LinkedIn Personal account has changed and the new name hasn't been synced in Publer, the tag won't work.

Select at least one LinkedIn social account
Type @, followed by the name of the LinkedIn profile or connection you want to tag.

Always make sure to select the correct suggestion from the dropdown to ensure the mention is added properly.

Instagram

Due to API limitations and restrictions, Publer can only return results for the Instagram accounts that you use or have used in Publer. Otherwise, Publer won't return a result. However, you can always manually and correctly type the Instagram handle, and the account will be tagged accordingly once the post is published.

Select at least one Instagram account

If they use / have used Publer, you can simply select the Instagram account from the returned suggestions
Otherwise, you can manually type the rest of the Instagram handle (i.e. @instagram)

Due to Instagram limitations, Publer can't autocomplete or spellcheck usernames for Personal accounts, only Professional ones. Please double-check the spelling of the username of the Personal accounts before saving.

Tagging Instagram Accounts
In both cases, the accounts will be tagged properly once the post is published

You can also tag Instagram accounts on the actual photos. Learn more about that here.

Threads

Due to API limitations and restrictions, Publer can only return results for the Threads accounts that you use or have used in Publer. Otherwise, Publer won't return a result. However, you can always manually and correctly type the Threads handle, and the account will be tagged accordingly once the post is published.

Select the Threads account where you want to post to
Type @ followed by the name or the username of the Threads account you would like to tag
If they use / have used Publer, you can simply select the Threads account from the returned suggestions (i.e. @publer)
Otherwise, you can manually type the rest of the Threads handle.

Tagging multiple accounts from different social networks

Due to API limitations, you cannot mention multiple accounts from different social network with one click. Each social network has their own unique infrastructure for handling mentions.

You will be given a small alert table saying that mentions are channel specific, and you can't mention the same account on multiple social networks at once

Tagging on multiple accounts
Click on the customize icon on the bottom left corner of the post and proceed with the mentioning for each social network

Customize Tagging
When the posts are published, the tags/mentions will show up accordingly.
