How to create and schedule Bluesky threads

DesktopStart

To create and schedule Bluesky Threads with Publer:

  • Go to the Create page and select a Bluesky account.
  • Start composing a new post.
  • You can specify the language for the Bluesky post if needed.
  • Click +Add to Thread to start building your thread.

Wrapping a Thread

  • You can Copy, Wrap, or Delete a thread by clicking the three dots next to it.

  • To copy text, conditions, media or the entire post, click on Copy and choose one of the available options.

  • Choose Wrap the thread to preview how the entire thread will appear.
  • Wrapping adds a final post that highlights the full thread. The last post becomes your wrap up message, bringing the thread back to the top with a final takeaway, note, or link.
  • Preview how it looks.

  • If you want to change it back, you can always unwrap the thread.

Delays and Conditions

  • If you want to add a delay for the first follow up comment, click the three dots on the left and choose Add Conditions.
  • You can add conditions to each thread the same way.
  • You can also choose to Copy or Delete a thread.

  • In the pop up, use the Is older than condition to specify the delay for the next comment. This is the updated name for the former Delay option.

  • (OPTIONAL) You can set follow up comments to post automatically based on the performance of the previous post. For example, the next comment can trigger only if the earlier post reaches the engagement levels you define.

NOTE: Follow up comments can be triggered by a specific delay or by performance. Conditions can be based on Time (Is older than), Reach, and Engagements.

The Reach condition is not available for this account due to API limitations.

  • To keep adding posts to your thread, click +Add to thread under the previous comment.

  • The second thread or follow up comment can also be scheduled based on the previous post if a condition is enabled.
  • To add media, click Click to upload media and select the files you want to attach.

  • You can also reorder the posts in your thread by clicking on the Move down or Move up options before publishing. You need to have at least 2 follow-up comments for this option to work.

NOTE: You can add conditions to additional follow up comments. Performance based conditions apply only to the first follow up comment.

  • Once your thread is ready and all follow-up comments are set, proceed to schedule the post as usual.
  • You can also preview how the Bluesky thread will appear once published.

WARNING: Threads and follow-up comments do NOT carry over automatically when reusing posts from saved drafts, scheduled content, or previously published posts. Therefore, you will need to manually add them each time.

TIP: You can also set default follow-up comments or threads for all your posts by following this guide.

Keep in mind:

  • You can add up to 25 posts in a Bluesky thread.
  • You can specify the language of the Bluesky post (optional).
  • Each follow-up comment/reply is customizable with text formatting tools, emojis, hashtag suggestions, and media files.
  • Each follow-up reply will have a 300 character limit. Publer will highlight any text that goes over the limit.
  • Each follow-up reply will get shared after the previous one. For example, you can't schedule the third reply of a thread to be posted before the second one.
  • To post videos, you need to verify your email with BlueSky. If your email is not verified, your videos will be rejected.
