Amongst one of my most prized possessions, hanging framed on the wall at home, is this incredible hand written letter I received from Sir David Attenborough last year. Sir David has inspired countless people all over the world to appreciate, respect and conserve our natural world and the wildlife who call it home. He is a beacon of hope, during such uncertain times for our planet and has taught us that no matter how bad things may seem, the power of individual action can make a difference - we just have to try. Happy 100th Birthday Sir David. Thank you for all you have done in your extraordinary lifetime. Emory Law has officially expelled Milano Wayne after he was caught sending racist and sexist emails to faculty. We first reported on this last week, after Wayne, whose name was originally “Wang” before he changed it, was exposed for sending disturbing messages to a professor that included rhetoric synonymous with white supremacy. In the emails, he described himself as “transracial" and said he wanted to “stomp on n*****,” reportedly using the slur 11 times. He also made disturbing comments about rape victims on a business networking site, writing, “I dream of the day I get to tear apart purported rape victims on cross-examination in defense of my accused clients.” Initially, Wayne was only banned from campus. But after backlash from Emory students who criticized the university’s handling of the situation, officials have now moved to expel him. “While our investigation determined there was not an immediate physical threat from the individual whose hateful social media posts and emails implicate a number of Emory policies, that does not eliminate the fear and harm the individual has caused,” the university said. “The person’s recent emails and social media posts were inappropriate and unacceptable, and we shared this information with our law enforcement partners.” Thoughts? #EmoryUniversity #CollegeNews #CampusSafety #SocialJustice #BreakingNews

After nearly five years of heartbreak and protests, a white former Ohio deputy has been found guilty in the killing of 23-year-old Casey Goodson Jr., a Black man who was shot multiple times while walking into his grandmother’s home holding Subway sandwiches. Former Franklin County deputy Jason Meade claimed Casey pointed a gun at him before the shooting, but prosecutors said no witnesses backed up that story. Casey, who legally owned the firearm, was shot five times in the back and once in the side. Investigators later found the gun underneath his body with the safety still on. A giant fish called the arapaima is the focus of a conservation success story in the Brazilian Amazon. ⁠ ⁠ Scientists have worked with local villages to protect the commercially valuable fish from poachers while allowing villagers to profit from a sustainable arapaima harvest.
