DesktopStart

To create and schedule Mastodon Threads with Publer:

  • Go to Create page and select Mastodon on the left.
  • Start composing a new post.

  1. Add a spoiler or warning to your post (optional).
  2. Specify the language of the Mastodon post (optional).
  3. Click on Make a thread to start creating your thread/reply.

  • Tap on the follow-up comment icon.

  • Toggle on the button Make a thread.
  • Then, if you want to add a delay for the first follow-up post, use the “Is older than” condition (formerly called "Delay") to specify when it will be posted by clicking “Add Conditions”.

  • From there, you can choose how long you want to delay it for.

  • (OPTIONAL) You can set follow-up comments to be automatically posted based on the performance of the previous post. For example, a follow-up comment can be triggered if the previous post engagements exceed the values you specify.

NOTE: Follow-up comments can be set to post automatically based on a specific delay or performance. Conditions can be based on Time (Is older than), Reach, and Engagements.

The "Reach" condition is not available for this account due to API limitations.

  • To continue adding posts to the thread, click the small + icon below the comment: Add another comment.

  • The second follow-up comment can be scheduled based on the previous post if any specific condition is also enabled.
  • To add media, simply click on Click to upload media and choose the media you want to add.

  • Once you have finished creating the follow-up comments and your thread is ready, simply click on Save and proceed with scheduling the post accordingly.
  • You can also preview what the Mastodon thread will look like when it's posted.

WARNING: Threads and follow-up comments do NOT carry over automatically when reusing posts from saved drafts, scheduled content, or previously published posts. Therefore, you will need to manually add them each time.

TIP : You can also set default follow-up comments or threads for all your posts by following this guide.

Keep in mind:

  • You can add up to 25 posts in a Mastodon thread.
  • You can specify the language of the Mastodon post and also add a spoiler or warning (optional).
  • Each follow-up comment/reply is customizable with text formatting tools, emojis, hashtag suggestions, and media files.
  • Each follow-up reply will have a 500 character limit. Publer will notify you by highlighting the text that's surpassed the limit.
  • Each follow-up reply will get shared after the previous one. For example, you can't schedule the third reply of a thread to be posted before the second one.
